{"id":2236,"date":"2013-06-18T12:31:22","date_gmt":"2013-06-18T01:31:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/support.cybersecure.com\/?p=2236"},"modified":"2020-04-25T10:45:43","modified_gmt":"2020-04-25T00:45:43","slug":"best-practices-for-achieving-efficient-backups-standardadvanced-edition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/support.cybersecure.com\/?p=2236","title":{"rendered":"Best practices for achieving efficient backups"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Data matching algorithms<\/h2>\n<p>CyberSecure Standard\/Advanced includes delta-matching technology that enables in-file incremental transfer, which greatly reduces the bandwidth needed to send files, plus means that previous versions are also stored efficiently being just the &#8220;delta&#8221; patch file.<\/p>\n<p>However to achieve this, the following conditions must be met:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The previous + new file name must match exactly<\/li>\n<li>The previous + new files must have different timestamps<\/li>\n<li>The new files written must be in some type of pristine, uncompressed, unencrypted and consistent state.\n<ol>\n<li>eg. A ZIP file structure is different each time it&#8217;s written &#8211; this interferes with the delta matching algorithms and means the whole file is uploaded each time.
