This is a generic I\/O error from Windows, with numerous potential causes.<\/p>\n<p>Some possible causes of this issue could be:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>A hardware problem on the device or media<\/li>\n<li>The device being copied has gone to sleep (standby)<\/li>\n<li>The computer hibernates in the middle of a backup<\/li>\n<li>USB drive that was disconnected<\/li>\n<li>A Volume Shadow Copy issue<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Resolution:<\/h2>\n<p>The error message should automatically be resolved the next time backup runs.<br \/>\nIf the error still persists then follow the instructions <strong>in the following order:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Change your power settings to not put the computer or hard drives to sleep<\/li>\n<li>Run a chkdsk\/filesystem integrity check on the device reporting with the error<\/li>\n<li>Check the SYSTEM event log for any <a title=\"How to check the event viewer for exchange\/hardware issues\" href=\"http:\/\/support.cybersecure.com\/?p=1561\">disk, NTFS or other storage device errors<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Ensure that all drives are securely connected for the duration of the backup<\/li>\n<li>Check that the <a href=\"http:\/\/technet.microsoft.com\/en-us\/library\/ff597980%28v=exchg.80%29.aspx\">volume shadow copy service is working<\/a> normally<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that other backup software is not set to run during CyberSecure&#8217;s scheduled run time<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Often issues arise in the backup before they manifest with applications: we strongly advise you to immediately check your hardware if this problem is occurring regularly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Error: &#8220;The device is not ready&#8221; appears in the backup report log, causing the backup to fail.
