{"id":1424,"date":"2012-08-06T14:26:26","date_gmt":"2012-08-06T03:26:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/support.cybersecure.com\/?p=1424"},"modified":"2020-04-25T10:52:34","modified_gmt":"2020-04-25T00:52:34","slug":"best-practice-restore-guide-advanced-edition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/support.cybersecure.com\/?p=1424","title":{"rendered":"Best practice medical restore guide"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Synopsis<\/h2>\n<p>This guide describes the procedure for restoring the Best Practice medical software database from an approved CyberSecure installation.<\/p>\n<p>CyberSecure takes a consistent backup of the best practice SQL database via Windows Volume Shadow Services (VSS) and so is not the same process as the application-level backup within Best Practice.<\/p>\n<p>The file type stored by CyberSecure are the raw MDF files and so need to be placed back into the exact SQL database location for &#8220;BPSINSTANCE&#8221; on the Best Practice machine &#8211; this can vary between installations.<\/p>\n<h2>Process<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Ensure Best Practice is installed and up to date<\/li>\n<li>Restore the backed up data through the CyberSecure agent to a temporary location<\/li>\n<li>Stop the following services:\n<ol>\n<li>SQL Server (BPSINSTANCE)<\/li>\n<li>SQL Server Browser<\/li>\n<li>SQL Server VSS Writer<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>The default location of database files is:<br \/>\nC:\\Program Files\\Microsoft SQL Server\\MSSQL10_50.BPSINSTANCE\\MSSQL\\DATA<\/p>\n<p>This may be different on your server<\/p>\n<p>Copy the restored MDF files from the temporary location over the existing BPINSTANCE SQL server files EXCEPT for the following files:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>master.mdf<\/li>\n<li>mastlog.ldf<\/li>\n<li>model.mdf<\/li>\n<li>modellog.ldf<\/li>\n<li>MSDBData.mdf<\/li>\n<li>MSDBLog.ldf<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Start the services:\n<ol>\n<li>SQL Server (BPSINSTANCE)<\/li>\n<li>SQL Server Browser<\/li>\n<li>SQL Server VSS Writer<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Log into Best Practice<\/li>\n<li>Check some data within Best Practice to ensure correctness<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Synopsis This guide describes the procedure for restoring the Best Practice medical software database from an approved CyberSecure installation.
