Sharepoint 2007 (WSS 3.0) Backup Guide

  1. Login to the machine running Windows Sharepoint services 2007
  2. Download the Sharepoint backup script and save within the C:\Program Files\CyberSecure Advanced\bin folder
  3. Edit the sps2k7-backup.vbs file with notepad or similar text editor, you will ll see the following variables:
    1. Const BackupDirectory = “D:\BackupDir”
    2. Const StsadmExecPath = “C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\BIN\stsadm.exe”
  4. Verify if the BackupDirectory and StsadmExecPath variable within the sps2k7-backup.vbs file require modification
  5. Within the VBS file, there is a default backup schedule set. This schedule runs a full Sharepoint backup on Sunday and differentials Monday through Saturday. We recommend leaving the schedule on the default settings unless you know what you are doing and are prepared to diagnose if problems arise.
  6. Open CyberSecure Advanced by using the system-tray icon:
  7. In the main console, open the “Settings”
  8. Using the green “plus” icon, create a new “File” backup set
  9. Set the name of the backup set to be something recognisable, such as “ServerName-Sharepoint”
  10. Set the backup source location to be the output folder specified in the VBS script file.
  11. Complete the add backup set wizard and you will be returned to the backup settings screen.

  13. Click into the “Command Line Tool” section
  14. Press the [Add] button under the Pre-Backup section on the right panel and enter the following entries in the corresponding text fields:
    1. Name: Sharepoint 2007 spool script
    2. Working directory: C:\Program Files\CyberSecure Advanced\bin
    3. Command: sps2k7-backup.vbs

  15. Press OK and return to the main console
  16. Save settings to the server
